Payton won it's first ever girls soccer city championship after blanking Lane 3-0 at North Park University. A goal by Payton senior mid-fielder Blake Murphy mid-way through the first half gave Payton a lead that it never relinquished. Murphy, who is also on Payton's girls gold team, scored the goal a free kick from about 35 yards out.
Lane went through the first 5 CPS playoff games on a roll scoring 24 goals and giving up only one in victories over Bogan, Foreman, Mather, Hubbard, and Northside. But could not manage a goal versus conference champ Payton. Lane and Payton met in the last day of the regular season in which Payton won 5-1
