4A - Football State Playoff Pairings for CPS

#13 Chicago (Harper) (6-3) at #4 Sandwich (8-1)
#12 Chicago (Collins Academy) (6-3) at #5 Geneseo (8-1)
#11 Chicago (CICS/Longwood) (6-3) at #6 Chicago (Carver Military Academy) (7-2)
#9 Elgin (St. Edward) (7-2) at #8 Chicago (Uplift) (7-2)

Neilski's first initial reactions:

• Harper at Sandwhich - Don't know anything about Sandwhich. OK no Sandwhich jokes.
• Collins at Geneseo- Collins will have no chance against this football crazy school and town. The whole town watches thier games.
• Longwood at Carver - I don't think Longwood is a CPS school. I know they are in the city. Winnable game for Carver.
• St. Edward at Uplift - Uplift should have a chance as St. Edward will travel to the city.

 

Week 8 CPS Football Rankings....Chicago Conference Teams

1. Senn (7-0) (beat Schurz 34-6) - win clinches Chicago Big Shoulders Conference. Senn moves up to the big boys where they belong in the Illini conference next year. Senn is the best hope for a Chicago conference team to win a state playoff game.

2. Julian (5-2) (beat Corliss 58-14) - wins the Chicago Windy City Conference. Julian moves upto an Illini conference next year. Are the Jaguars back? We'll find out next year.

3. Hyde Park (4-3)(beat Urban Prep 22-6) - still in state playoff hunt after big win over Urban Prep.

4. Taft (6-1)  (beat Lake View) - bounced back with a win after a demoralizing loss to Senn the previous week.

5. Carver (6-1) (beat Phillips 53-36) - still in hunt for Chicago Great Lakes Conference after conference leader Bowen lost. Carver plays Bowen next week.

Others: Bowen, Agriculture Science, Manley, Uplift, Collins, DuSable, Foreman, Clemente
