Malik Lee(sr) of Brooks returns after finishing all-state last year in the 800 and the 4x400.
Below is a list of CPS runners who are returning this year after finishing all-state at last year's class 2A state boys track meet. I listed the place they finished last year and their mark from last year. Class year are the athletes current class I also listed relay legs who are returning.

As you can see the CPS has 7 returning athletes who finished all-state last year in class 2A boys track.
Jamal McNeeley(sr) of Kelvyn Park returns as the defending state champ in the 100 meter and the runner up in the 200 meter. He will get a lot more attention this year now that teammate Brian Carter has graduated. McNeeley could dominate the CPS in any sprint event he chooses.
Joshua Cephus(sr)of Fenger is the only returnee from a Fenger team that scored in the 4x100 and 4x200. Fenger will need to find adequate replacements if it wants to get times close to what they did last year. If they do not focus on relays, you may see Cephus in the individual 100 and/or 200.
Brooks will be strong this year both at the state and city level. They return 3 all-state runners in Malik Lee(sr), Daniel Medrano(sr), and Byron Kelley(sr). Lee ran a 1:57.83 to place 9th in state last year in the open 800. Medrano is tall, versitle, and athletic. He could run a number of events and relays. He also hurdles. Kelley is a strong 400 runner.
Jones returns all-staters Jamison Dale(sr) and Luke O'Connor(sr). It's too early to say what they will run at state this year. I do know that Jones has several athletes from their state championship cross country team that will aid in the decision making. Dale and O'Connor could run 1 or 2 open individual distance events or who knows maybe even do a relay or two. Every action that Jones takes from here on out will be heavily scrutinized.
