Antioch 31 Bowen 27
Antioch tipped Bowen 31-27 in the class 2A dual team state wrestling tournament. Bowen looked good after 8 matches when Bowen's Antwon Mickle defeated Antioch's Justin Miller 7-4 at 170lbs. At that point Bowen led 21-10 and seemed to be in good shape. However, Antioch won 5 of the final 6 matches to stun Bowen 31-27.
Bowen was hurt by a forfeit at 182 lbs that gave Bowen a free 6 points. It came to the final bout. The score was tied 27-27. But Antioch's Briley Schultz defeated Bowen's Cory Wilson at 113lbs by a decisive score of 9-1 to send Antioch to the state semi-finals.
Bowen was trying to get their first state trophy in wrestling and trying to become the only CPS school besides Lane Tech to win a state trophy in wrestling. But the CPS champs fell just a few points short.
