Posted by: !!!!!! | November 27, 2012 at 10:16 AM
Not true about Westinghouse kenwood already beat st Rita before in the state playoffs?
Posted by: Arthur Williams from kenwood | November 27, 2012 at 05:02 PM
The Kenwood win over St. Rita was in 1987 before there were separate Chicago of Illini conferences

AL RABY WON THE CONFERENCE....!! NOT PHILLIPS
Posted by: raby won | November 27, 2012 at 07:03 PM
If I was Simeon I would go independent. Need a better schedule to have a real shot at State
Posted by: Phish Phan | November 27, 2012 at 07:34 PM
it has to be:
1. Simeon
2. Morgan Park
3. Brooks
4. Harper
5. Raby
6. Roberson
then for the final 4, pick 4:
Orr, Westinghouse, Lane, Calumet, Phillips, King & Dunbar as they all weren't too bad but not all that either
Posted by: Public League Supporter | November 27, 2012 at 08:39 PM
Neilski made rankings based on finishes. I agree, it has to be modified a bit. It should look more like this:
1. Simeon
2. Brooks
3. Morgan Park
4. Orr
5. Robeson
6. Harper
7. Raby
8. Lane
9. Curie
10. Dunbar
11. King
12. Phillips
13. Marshall

@^……Raby beat Orr so shouldn't they be higher, Public League Supporter probably has it best

What about next year? Lane has good sophomore quarterback in Santana who is stud baseball catcher. Fear is Coach P will ruin him also using razzle dazzle who has the ball even though he has rocket arm like present qb McLaughlin. We know how McLaughlin was used this year to no avail. Same wothless assistant coachs will remain at Lane so defense will give up 30 plus points to the good teams while dominating the weak teams but Coach P says this is progress. We have talented sophomore receivers coming up but since Lane does not throw the ball these athletes will be wasted too. Same old same old like last 4 years. The alumni are fed up and cannot bare to go to games or stand proudly on sidelines like they used to. Say what you want but Rio had only one season of losing 4 games. Coach P is consistent in that every year he has coached Lane he has 4 or more losses every year.

Only on a CPS c site can a school that lost 45-0 in the first round of the state playoffs be ranked higher than a school that lost in the third of state.
One day CPS fans will realized that state wins have more value than city playoffs wins. The only games after Thanksgiving that most people in the state, or nation for that matter, care about are played at U of I and not Soldier Field
Posted by: U of I > Soldier Field | November 28, 2012 at 10:20 PM
wrong. Brooks beat who to get to the 5A QF? Payton? Austin? Two Chicago Conference schools. Brooks had a favorable draw. Simeon is Class 8A and lost to the eventual 8A state champion. I'm sorry but Simeon would whomp Brooks and Evergreen Park.
Posted by: wrong | November 28, 2012 at 11:16 PM
Not Simeon, Morgan Park.
Posted by: No, MP | November 29, 2012 at 05:56 AM
MP didn't lose no 45-0 in no first half get ur facts straight it was Simeon. MP would beat the he'll out of brooks and evergreen as well. brooks players not the problem. very bad coaching!!! u played to Chicago conference teams man get real
Posted by: brooks what lol | November 29, 2012 at 06:02 AM
Crete monee looks like a lot of cps schools. Must be the coaching.
Posted by: urbanleftbehind | November 29, 2012 at 08:13 AM
MP would have for sure beat evergreen park.
Crete has cps player make up but subruban resources, support and coaching.

Question. This year who had the most disapointing football season considering any pre-season hype. Vote for either Lane Tech, Whitney Young, Hubbard or Curie.
Posted by: Go Lane | November 29, 2012 at 10:59 AM
^^ Hubbard- LT wasn;t hyped up this year due to poor performances in the 2011 and 2010 season.
Posted by: cmpunk | November 29, 2012 at 12:08 PM
good question @Go Lane
Hubbard had the most disapointing season overall simply due to their standing over the las 15 or so years
Harlan had the most disapointing season considerign pre-season hype. This board and anybody you talked to was always saying how great they were going to be but even without the forfiets, they didn't do well at all
Posted by: Public League Supporter | November 29, 2012 at 12:17 PM
how in the he'll did they lose to Cvs
Posted by: by far whitney young | November 29, 2012 at 10:12 PM
After they beat Ignatius at Soldier Field their fans thought they were going to win State.Pretty funny.
Posted by: X | November 29, 2012 at 10:43 PM
Maybe you are trying to be funny, but MP clearly lost in the 1St round by 45 points.

North lawndale 5-4 record, how come they were third in they conference, when sullivan had a 6-2 record..............someone is lying
Posted by: STFU | December 02, 2012 at 12:43 AM
Are you serious? That is so cheap. I'd like to put on my football gear and go support them. I'll start a pep rally for the team. You'll see.
Posted by: Randy Clap | December 03, 2012 at 11:32 AM
So no one has anything to say about the 2 westside kids winning illini player of the year. Chris covington who neil did not even have on the list at the beginning until his coach told you to do your research, shocked the city. Now no one has anything to say!! Numbers don't lie. So is he soft now!.! Good job Al Raby!!!

When he played a team with talent he choked. MP destroyed this kid. I still would say he is second best to D.Boone, and has a lot to learn. Covington needs to be at a school with coaches. Al Raby gas none.
Posted by: Covington is not that good | December 05, 2012 at 03:50 PM
Sounds like somebody's hating
Posted by: wow | December 05, 2012 at 07:17 PM
hating and facts are two different things little bra you need work, better yet leave that weak as team . we got a spot for you. lol you good but not that good.for the future don't hype yourself up.
Posted by: Covington is not that good | December 05, 2012 at 08:53 PM
Ok first im not the QB Boone is not that good to me I played against him second who do u play for is yall in the top 5 in he's going to be in all American QB if u like it or not lol just watch the shoe kid
Posted by: wow | December 05, 2012 at 10:24 PM
what some are failing to understand is that raby has only 500 kids, mp has 1600. simeon has 2500 harper has 600. these big schools should destroy these 3a and 4a schools. when faced with scholls their size what happened?
Posted by: your right, but | December 05, 2012 at 10:35 PM
these schools have more boys to select from then the other schools have students
Posted by: at all | December 05, 2012 at 10:37 PM
They should but these small school like Raby and Harper proved that they can play with the big schools to me that's just pure talent

This is why CCL had advantage over CPS
I am a CCL guy, but what is going on with the "recruitment" of these 8th graders is ludicrous. A kid on my block, who happens to be a very good football player, received 10 calls this past week from 4 schools, basically begging him to "test" for the entrance exam and then "they will talk financial aid."
I thought calling these kids, for a sport, is illegal. Unless you mask it by having your admissions guy as a football coach.
Do grown men, who are IHSA sanctioned coaches, get together a few times a week to call 14 year old kids?
Out of control here on the south side, in my humble opinion.
Posted by: CCL recruiting 8th graders | January 02, 2013 at 01:45 PM
I wish Lane Tech did the same thing CCL. I know Mt.Carmel and Loyola try to recruit 8th graders.Personally I see nothing wrong with the practice. Colleges do it all the time. Just wish lane Tech did that but then again that would take effort and alumni who do not care about the program anymore under coach P. Just staying.
