Liss was hurt in conf cham game against Foreman. Without Liss, Taft barely lost. With Foreman gone and Steinmetz graduating everybody; Liss returns next year for Taft and will make Taft easy conference pre-season favorites.

with the up coming school closings the cps shouldn't be so watered down when it comes to football, but this will also raise some schools class level. but it might help a team go deep in the series.

Why would I not want to play foreman? I was looking forward to that game the whole season. getting experience from other teams to better myself for that game. I wish I could have played that game. Im just recovering from my injured ankle now.

Would have burnt liss, if we were in the same conference.

Sadly, Taft probably made it a school-wide initiative to get their guy number one on CPS Sports Blog.

CPS Northside Driver Ed. Centers Getting Audited
Lane's DE was audited by CPS first then they went over to drill the guy in charge of the center at Taft. The person in charge of the Taft's center also is the head of PE Dept at Taft and responsible for hiring two sons of his buddy (another Taft PE teacher) to work at Taft as PE teachers with their father.
The paperwork at Taft, like Lane, is all over the place. Another thing is that parents from Northside College Prep complained to the Secretary of State about Taft's head guy is holding kids permits hostage. I guess if a kid didn't finish at his center or come pick up their permit within a week, The Taft head guy would put them through the IWAS (DE online system) as a FAIL and claim them for his centers money. Well, a bunch of parents caught wind of what he was doing and I guess he caught some heat for it, so I'm sure they roasted his ass during the audit because his paperwork is all over the place or just non existent. I heard these auditors were asking about kids that went the program like two years ago and he couldn't provide receipts for their payment or even a trail that they were enrolled for driver ed there.
Also, the Taft head guy has been double dipping as well. He teachers college courses through Chicago State University at Taft for teachers to attain their DE teaching endorsement. Well, he gets paid by Chicago State and also from the monies non-CPS students give him to take the road and range requirements through him at Taft. And, no word if CPS has been getting compensated for the building usage for the Chicago State classes taken at Taft.

Taft can beat WY. Taft has a better defense and a better RB. I'm not saying it will be easy because WY has a good team as well. I still can't believe WY will be down in the Chicago Conference. Both teams are Illini caliber programs.
Posted by: @ WY | November 26, 2012 at 10:30 AM
if taft is illini caliber, why did they punk out of movin up 2012 season?what did taft do last time they were in illini?keep dreamin!
Posted by: real illini! | November 26, 2012 at 12:04 PM
They didn't move up because there whole varsity. Team practically graduated our football players fear no team and will play anyone. It was there coaches decision to stay down and not move up a level and that allowed new players to feel good and prepare. Themselves for a higher level games. At real illini
Posted by: you're welcome | November 26, 2012 at 09:13 PM
Excuses, Excuses.... If Taft is not afraid to play anyone, then why not move up to a tougher conference? Seems like a huge contradiction to me. Just sayin.
Posted by: hey there | November 26, 2012 at 09:33 PM
you're welcome the word you're lookin for is cowardly!and not the lion from wizard of oz!taft is the laughing stock of cps even more than the mighty prosser falcons!

Even i know that taft's division was an easy one.

Taft is a well rounded school that has been rising from its previous history. There football program is getting better due to a better coaching staff. Next year without a doubt they will be conference champions. I haven't herd that WY was moving down i thought CVS will move down IF Foreman decides to move up they have no chance they will be crushed by the competition Taft was the only school that puts in the work during and after the season. It was unfortunate that they were not conference champs if you went to the game u would know it was crappy conditions to kick and they had an average of 7.something a pop so y wouldn't u go for 2. As well as they lost all of their varsity last year due to graduation so why would u move up to the best division possible with a young team. Instead build up the young team to compete against the illini their senior year and have a better chance in winning. Its not being scared its using logic. All I'm saying is don't judge this team until u know the facts.

any way you spin it...cowards!
Posted by: real fb players/teams! | November 29, 2012 at 11:26 PM
@ stop talking if you don't know
Fact#1: Whitney Young and Roosevelt will enter the Big Shoulders next year!
Fact #2: 2years ago when Taft won conference and decided to stay down, Foreman would have moved up despite their roster. Foreman and many other teams are trying to get better and they do not make excuses. They would rather go up and give it a shot. Even if they do not win as many games. That is the COMPETITVE thing to do!
Fact #3: The coaching staffs are COWARDS!
Fact #4: They will not win conference next year!
Posted by: NOS | November 30, 2012 at 05:24 AM
The excuse of moving down for a year and then up with competing with "seniors" is a terrible one. Every year seniors will graduate and the juniors and upcoming sophs will be viewed as a "young" team. Bottom Line- Move up, stay up if you can, compete with the team you have. Its called adversity....difference between CPS and everyone else, everyone else deals with the adversity, not run from it. Just sayin.

Here we go again! People spouting shit about Taft programs and staff when they don't know what the hell they are talking about. Here's what it boils down to:
Those of you who live your lives to come on here and complain about Taft are doing so because you are so bitter and pissed off that you didn't get a job there. Basically, you look like a bunch of 2 year olds throwing a temper tantrum.

The influence of Matt Walsh extends beyond his lackys, it superseeds Mickey PRuitt. The rules were set in place, win = move up. He decided to not, and the enforcers of the rules, Mickey Pruitt, looked the other way.

set rules? its called make up the rules as you go along!

Taft is scared, coaching staff are cowards........End of story.

This entry's goal was to honor the accomplishment of TEN fantastic athletes that over 1,000 fans voted on.
PLEASE move beyond other gripes that you may have and focus on the great accomplishments of these talented young men. The season is OVER please get OVER what Taft did last year as others had done it before and there was a precedent set that CPS could not avoid treating all schools the same.
Congrats to the all of the young men that fans voted for - you worked hard this season and deserve the recognition.
The only gripe should be that with 33,000 varsity athletes in CPS there were only 1,000 votes. Let's try to stay a little more positive on this blog so that more people will take the time to follow CPS Sports!

The word here is SAFE. And, that's the way Taft plays it, SAFE. Would anyone go somewhere if they knew they were going to get their asses kicked? NO
Would all of Taft's coaches still have their jobs if they went 0-5 or 1-4 in conference and 2-6 or 3-5 overall? 4-4 maybe with three pre-season easy wins, but, not anything worse. It's simply called playing it SAFE for Taft.
When parents or alumni ask what their record was this past year, the Taft people can say the strike screwed them out of the state playoffs by not being able to play Steinmetz and the opportunity to move up to the Illini conference next year.
And, if alumni and paremts ask what Taft's record was in previous years, they can say they were 3X state qualifiers (and have the t-shirts to prove it. So, everyone thinks everything is fine and dandy. But, only the true CPS people know Taft plays a weak pre-season schedule, plays in the subpar Chicago Conference, isn't able to play in the CPS Playoffs, and gets blown out in state playoffs when they make it there by an avberage of 40 pts.
The excuse of graduating seniors is a poor one, especially when Taft's people say they were playing a young team. last time I checked, every school graduates seniors and younger players move up.
Besides, Taft doesn't have the black kids coming into the school anymore since they went to being a neighborhood school and that kills their team speed. Taft now has a bunch of slow white kids too dumb not to make Lane, spanish kids who are 5'09" 240 playing the line, and middle eastern kids that would rather throw a rock at you then hit you with their hands.
Posted by: Taft plays it SAFE | December 02, 2012 at 10:10 AM
playing it safe is the same as playing not to lose.both are acts of cowardice!
