The Lane Tech machine keeps churning out new guys. After the Lane Tech 1.5 mile time trial #1, some runners who on the radar last year have emerged into bonfide forces.
Here are a couple notable ones:
Oswaldo Lorenzana(jr) - I first started hearing about Lorenzano last spring in track. He was one of 4 or so Lane Tech freshman or sophomores that broke the 5 minute barrier in the 1600. He also ran a 2:10 800 meter and a 11:00 3200 meter. But even I was surprised to see his name finish 4th in the 1.5 mile time trial. He finished just behind Jon Vara(jr) and ahead of Pavlo Hutsalyuk(so) with an impressive time of 7:39.8. He seems to be a strong conternder for a top 5 Lane varsity slot and who knows even better.
Pavlo Hutsalyuk(so)- The uber talented sophomore showed he can run distance. After finishing a fabulous freshman season in which he mostly ran middle distance type races, we did not know how he could perform in longer distances. He answered that question right away as he ran a 7:39.8 to finish 5th in the time trial.
Brandon Zimny-Schmitt(sr)- After running under the shadows of his brother Danny for the last couple of years, Brandon looks to be emerging as a force of his own. The senior is one of the more improved runners on the whole Lane team. He ran a season best 3 mile time of 19:38 his sophomore year, improved to 18:02 last year, and now after running a 7:52 in the time trial to finish 8th overall, he suddenly seems to be in contention to make the Lane varsity top 7.
the three key guys that you mentioned will be important factors this fall for lane
