returnees: Wesley Chan(8th at freshman level), Sam LaSota(10th at freshman level), Ryan Harrington(57th @ freshman), Jacob Turner(50th at varsity level), Malcolm Lord (94th at varsity), Matthew Webb(27th at JV level), Lester Harris(32nd at JV).
Payton graduated its entire varsity team this year. It is a rebuilding year for the Grizzlies who will be led by Seniors Matt Webb and Malcolm Lord and underclassmen Wesley Chan(so) and Sam LaSota(so). Being in class 2A will benefit the grizzlies as the team will be rather small this year unless they can recruit more freshman. Expect big things from the two stud sophomores who are both training hard over the summer and benefitted from a year under the tutelage of Kamel and Truax. The team is training together three times a week. It is coach rego's 5th year with the team and he may be adding a track element to the season to get sprinters out for xc.
It is not yet determined wheter Jeremy Rainey Brown, a 2011 state cross country runner will be running cross country this year as he missed the entire spring 2011 track season.
