Mansur Soleman(sr) of Lane Tech
I'll never say never. Why? Because just like an athlete improves with quality training over time, coaches improve as well. The Lane Tech coaching duo of Chris Roof and Tony Jones has been around for a long time (over 8 years?) and they get better every year. Lane won it last year and made it downstate. But 4 of their top 7 graduate. We know Marcelo Burbano(sr) will be there with the front pack. We know Jon Vara(jr) will run in the 15's. He'll be a top 10 cps runner. Varsity returnee Mansur Soleman ran low 16's last year and could be in the 15's last year. Now all Lane has to do is develop 1-2 more runners to run up there. They got some young talent in runners like Pavlo Hutsalyuk(so), Christian Badillo(so), and David Schmieg(jr). I feel Lane can potentially put together a team that can have 5 all city runners at the varsity level. In most years, that is good enough to win it all. Will it be good enough this year to surpass Jones? We'll see. I think if Lane can have 5 all city runners and still lose the city title, then so be it.
Lane opens at the St. Patrick Invitational.

It's Jone's year. Will they be in 3A in 2013?

Jones has a great team no doubt, but the more shit you talk to lane tech kids the harder they go. Lane might be losing talent from last year, but those kids will never lose the most important thing athletes can have. Im talking about hard work and pride, lane tech will forever push those 2 things the most, good luck to all cps athletes, kick the suburbs ass!!!

Fuck that jones is running this bitch. Hear that neilski. I hope this humble jones team teaches lane a thing or two on winning without being so fucking cocky. Jones pride. Go jcp

When is the city schools race?

Of course lane has a chance, but I'd say jones would have to slip for that to happen. They have a ton of returners and almost all their guys had solid track seasons. Jones has 3 guys that should be in the top 5, a solid 4th and 5th and lots of competition for those last couple spots. They will have a guy who ran 4:41 or better not make the top 7. 4:50 guys may not even make the top 12. So if they take care of business they should win.
Lane still has a solid core returning and could also be very good. Jones can't and I'm sure won't overlook them. Realistically it looks like it will take 5 guys in the 15s and 3 in the low 15s to compete- which is a tall order but not impossible

Lane does not rebuild it reloads. Lane Tech is School of Champions for a reason.

Haha it should be called the school of never shutting the fuck up. Or the school that has 4500 kids yet brags about beating schools 1/8th to 1/3 of its size. I have great respect for coach roof and coach jones and guys like Timlin that are doing work. it's the rest of you fuckers who do nothing but ride their coat tails and talk shit that drive me nuts.
I'm not saying Lane is only good because of its size, but if you don't think it helps then are you are truly special.
I never see roof brag- take a lesson from him and learn some humility

Of course size matters and so does brains of which Lane kids have both and strong alumni base that actually give back unlike most public school alumni that do not give a crap. Lane will only get better. New baseball complex coming shortly courtesy of Chicago Cubs. I am an alumni (part of 1974 state champ track team) and proud to say I went to Lane and so does my daughter and 2 others will follow shortly. No other school would we even consider sending them too.

Pretty narrow minded. To each his own. Lane is a fine school.
