I feel that a good coach is one of the biggest factors in the success of a programs. One of those coaches is coach Jarvis Lewis-Bey. After a successful run at Senn, Coach Bey decided to move to coach at Marshall. The results have been phenomal and speak for themselves.
Senn football team record with/without Bey
School Year Record Coach
2005-06 2-7 Herman Blade
2006-07 8-3 Jarve Lewis-Bey
2007-08 3-6 Jarve Lewis-Bey
2008-09 7-4 Jarve Lewis-Bey
2009-10 8-2 Jarve Lewis-Bey
2010-11 9-1 Jarve Lewis-Bey
2011-12 1-8 Vincent Davis
Marshall football team with/without Bey:
School Year Record Coach
2009-10 4-5 William Gray
2010-11 2-7 William Gray
2011-12 8-2 Jarve Lewis-Bey
Immediate Dividends
As you can see from the table above, Coach Jarve-Bey is developing a track record of successfull turnarounds. He turned Senn around from a school with consistent losing record to one of winning. His record his last two seasons at Senn was 17-3.
He it trying to do the same thing at Marshall. I just did not know he could do it so quick. He turned Marshall around from a 2-7 team to an 8-2 team in one year. His team almost pulled out a shocker in last year's playoffs when his team lost only 10-6 to a very good Evergreen Park team in the first round of the state playoffs. Evergreen Park ended up being a state quarterfinalist.
I can't wait to find out what he can do his second year at Marshall. It will be a tougher test for Marshall as they have been promoted to the much tougher Illini Heartland conference with Brooks, Harper, and others.
Football Team Previews Page
Here is a video interview I conducted of Bey when he was at Senn after his team pounded Lincoln Park.
Why does you only show two coaching years for William Gray of Marshall? He coached longer than that. He coached Marshall to the Chicago City Championship in 2005, team record was 10 - 1. William Gray didn't coach at Marshall 2010-11 because he was fired before the season. Get your facts correct. Coach Lewis-Bey is a good coach but this blog is making him a great coach.

Blog post was not meant to sleight Coach Grey in any way. It just shows the his last two years of coaching at Marshall and their records. Of course he coached fro more years. What cannot be disputed was that his last two seasons he had a 4-5 and a 2-7 record at Marshall before Coach Lewis-Bey went in there.

DON'T GET FOOLED BY THIS MAN! HE IS EGOTISITCAL AND BAD AS THE GREAT MATHEW WALSH & COACH ROCK.
These men have ego's that they honestly believe they invented the game of football.

If Lane Tech really wanted to change things....

@urbanleftbehind
Lewis-Bey is black. Lane or Taft would never hire a black football coach. Hell, how many teachers are black at Lane or Taft?

Dude are you living in the 60's? There are lot's of white coaches all over the cps (Curie, Pritzker,...). Even an Historically Black University Alcorn State hired a white coach

Schools hire best coaches period! This is how it is.

He is not the best coach - PERIOD! He was fired from Senn for getting into a pissing contest with his principal. His ego continues to get the best of him.

And its not exactly amazing that he had a good team in his first year. He took all his kids from senn with him, to put with all the kids still at marshall when he got there.

He is just as bad as Walsh and Rock. Bey cries the race card when placed in a bad situation. But he is just as egotistical, just as self centered as them. These three all get along, cause they intimidate everyone else.
The NFL High School Player Development Camp is the Jarvis Bey, Walsh and Rock Show.

The only reason why people talk about Walsh, Rock, and Bey is because they win.
Where's the criticism on the losing coaches from Clemente, Corliss, Schurz, Senn, Bowen, and half the other losing coaches?
Good coaches get talked about.

Take a look at the video. This is a man whom loved this interview, the "FAME" he believes he will get.
He was run outta Senn, and he will be run out of MArshall.

Guys, all head coaches have egos, it goes with the position. Some just don’t show it as clearly.
Whoever said race plays no role in getting a head job is crazy. Of course it doesn’t matter in every case but it does in a hell of a lot of cases. And, the white coach at a black school means nothing as that has been the case forever. When we see the same percentage of black heads of programs at white schools as we do white heads of black schools then talk to me.

I think that it is amazing that he is with us right now. You are right. The coach is one of the key element of the team.

Coach Jarve-Bey is really a great man and a great coach. We can see it in his record and with the standing of this team when he handled it.
