Curie 2 who the do they have ????????
Posted by: cps fan | June 13, 2012 at 10:36 PM
Payton is a good football program and did very well last year making the state playoffs and finishing 2nd in the Chicago Conference. The problem with this year's Payton team is that they graduate so much talent. Gone is RB Justin Smith- to the University of Illinois (not for football). Gone is leading receiver and playmaker Alex Short. Gone is leading stud tackler Jack Kalanick. Smith and Short were difference makes on both sides of the field. Kalanick and his 80 tackles almost doubled the 2nd best tackler. Topl lineman Ed Harvey and Blossfield-Iau have also graduated.
That is too much lost talent for a team to take. This is a rebuilding year for Payton.
QB Alex Bresler returns- though Payton is a more of rushing team. Bresler through for only about 320 yards last year.
Posted by: Yo | June 13, 2012 at 10:40 PM
Hubbard will be good this year. They have a team full of good juniors leading them. Watch out for those Greyhounds!
Posted by: Hubbard Alum | June 13, 2012 at 10:41 PM
Bresler also only started the last 5 or 6 games of the season, but i think payton could do really well this season with such a weak schedule they have.
Posted by: paul | June 13, 2012 at 10:46 PM
D. Boone and other players return to Fenger. Cassuis Chambers returns as head coach.

I was told that Gold was going to coach at Fenger next year.
Posted by: Tom | June 14, 2012 at 01:54 PM
Westinghouse is prepared to win conference behind the arm of QB Eugenio DeJesus and the legs of RB James Graham this dynamic duo is poised for a huge offensive year. The offensive/defensive lines which include Dequan Smith (DE/LT)have to perform well to ensure success for the team. The Warriors are returning the majority of their starters. Go Warrior!!

Westinghouse @ Payton Week 6.

How is Robeson ranked #14?? Especially behind teams like Brooks, Orr, CVS, King, Whitney Young, Julian, Fenger, & Harper!!!! There is no way any of those teams could beat Robeson. Robeson is way better than Orr, Brooks, King, Julian, Harper, Fenger, CVS, & Whitney Young. there is no way Robeson should be that low. They have an outstanding team with 16-18 Seniors coming back. But we will just wait and watch this season and let Robeson show you why they should be in the top 5.
Posted by: Time Square | June 14, 2012 at 09:22 PM
I agree about Robeson
Posted by: ijs | June 15, 2012 at 12:06 AM
Not just Robeson. Orr and Lane Tech could be raked higher. All 3 could and will be in top 10 by the tie conference play begins. Fenger at 5, Julian at 8, and CVS and 10 will be hard pressed to keep their rankings.
Posted by: Yo | June 15, 2012 at 06:09 AM
Hubbard migjt not have a football team this year with lack of players and lack of leadership and discipline. According to my sources, Coach Elton Harris is leaving due to the college offer Principal Andrew Manno received. Hubbard High School will plummet rom the top to rock bottom.
Posted by: CPS Athletic Adminstrator | June 15, 2012 at 02:01 PM
jane will drop this year not sure about Orr but neither will make top 15 let alone top 20. Simeon will be challenged this year by a unknown team this year not sure who but it wont be Fenger like last year
Posted by: ijs | June 15, 2012 at 06:13 PM
Curie has probaly the best chance to REALLY challenge Simeon! They dont have any big name recruits but they have a VERY GOOD team overal. They have guys that can get it done on bboth sides of the ball! Watch out for Curie1

@#? that was crazy how that happened craig stabbed underwood in the back, to get the job and they didn't give it to him because of his snake ways HAAAAAA
Posted by: snake | July 19, 2012 at 01:09 AM
THE TOP 20 SHOULD BEGIN WITH THE TOP 20 FINISHERS FROM THE PREVIOUS SEASON. YOU GOT TEAMS THAT DIDN'T PAST THE FIRST ROUND OF THE CPS PLAYOFFS IN THE TOP 10 AND AHEAD OF TEAMS THAT WENT TO THE SECOND AND THIRD ROUND OF CPS PLAYOFFS. HUBBARD SHOULD BE #1 OR #2 BECAUSE OF THEIR RUN IN THE STATE PLAYOFFS.
Posted by: APR | July 20, 2012 at 08:29 AM
Hubbard graduated soemthing like 19 of 22 starters. #1 or #2 would be far fetched. #4-$6 is more realistic. Last year was last year. Teams got to be evaluated on this year's talent.
Posted by: Hubbard | July 20, 2012 at 09:40 AM
@Hubbard
How can you evaluate teams this year's talent without playing a single game? Just because certain teams don't broadcast what they have, doesn't means that those teams are not good. Maybe these rankings should be set by last year's final season records.
Posted by: real talk | July 20, 2012 at 09:46 AM
@ Hubbard
So you are telling me that Curie is the #2 team in CPS. Really? Curie came in 3rd in their conference and lost in the first both city and state with a new coach this year. Please say no to drugs.
Posted by: real talk | July 20, 2012 at 09:49 AM
So you feel graduating 2 DI athletes(Jones and Dubose), their 4 year starting QB (Skanes), their top running backs, and almost all of their lineman is a team worthy of a #1 or #2 ranking?
HUbbard could be #1 or #2 at the end of the year depending on how many of those holes they fill. Remember even with all of those guys, they stil lost to Morgan Park. I gotta see how their new guys step in to get a good read on them. I'd say a #3 or #4 or even #5 ranking is about right for Hubbard at this time of the season.

lane has their best offense I've seen since my kids been going there, but their defense is just terrible
Posted by: lane parent | July 20, 2012 at 03:39 PM
@lane parent
I agree that the offense is doing great but you can't say that the defense is terrible. I man c'mon man those kids have worked their butts of in the off season and quite frankly that defense is great. The best I've seen at lane in a while. If you are just backing that up with what happened against Maine South in the 7v7 then ok but that defense has prepared so much. Expect to see them do big things this season.
Posted by: c'mon man | July 20, 2012 at 11:25 PM
The best you've seen in a while...? You people act like you don't remember lane won city only about four years ago. That defense was pretty solid...

Lets be real fenger was fuckin good last year so these are basically last year rankings dumb asses
Posted by: #6 | August 28, 2012 at 03:24 AM
But den again wtf did curie do last year? -_-
Posted by: #6 | August 28, 2012 at 03:25 AM
This list was completely wrong, Fenger #5 and they didn't win a game. Brooks only State team left and they were ranked #11. 3/4 teams left in city were ranked in top 10 and 1 team left in city that isn't in these rankings at all.
Posted by: Do a little more preseason research | November 04, 2012 at 07:01 PM
Make your own predictions. Predictions are just that predictions. It's easy to criticize it after the fact. Where was your critisicm when the pre-season rankings came out.
If you look at the comments above, very few people if any predicted Raby would be a city semi-finalist.
He had Simeon at #1 and Harper at #3. Nobody had Harper at #3- where was your criticism on that pick when the season started.
I also don't see anyone's comments about having Brooks at #11. Very people saw them this good as the season went on.
Rankings were also made before Fenger's transfers were made public. HUbbard at #4 may have been optimistic. Although, Hubbard at the end seemed to get it going. With a very young team they almost beat Morgan Park.
The rankings were very thought of and definitely worth debating. But to go here and say to do his research is very short sighted.
In other words, it's easy to look back and say those picks were boneheaded.
I'd like you to make next year's predictions now and see how good they are.
Go ahead, for anyone that challenges Neilski's preseason rankings, I challenge you to make next year's pre-season rankings right now.
Posted by: ^ ( I challenge you) | November 04, 2012 at 07:33 PM
Don't do a ranking in June then, go to a few 7 on 7 over the summer, a few combines, see what type of athletes some of these schools have, then do a ranking maybe a week or two before non conference games start then he might have a better prediction. Then you can factor in the kids that graduated, the transfers, Brooks kids been playing together since they were freshmans, their chemistry is there, would of known fenger lost a lot of kids, etc
Posted by: Do a little more preseason research | November 04, 2012 at 11:39 PM
Preseason rankings in mid-June is more speculation because nobody knows all the factors that make good team (chemistry, injuries, transfers, off season conditioning, etc).
Better guage is week 1 rankings

Posted by: A CPS fan looking for good coaches | November 05, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Y'all talking like they are the best team in the city. they beat one team in Chicago thats a worthy opponent, Harper... Brooks is the third best team in Chicago. And Hubbard did not almost beat MP. Five starters only played 1st quarter and Yates was calling plays. Big Difference between Chambers and Yates.
Posted by: i support brooks and hope they beat evergreen but gice me a break | November 05, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Yes Hubbard almost beat Morgan Park. This Morgan Park guy has a excuse for everything.I think he Coaches or is a dad as much as he is on here. I forgot what was the excuse for getting Blown out by Lemont. It was either the Refs or because the O gave them bad field position
Posted by: Brooks would Destroy Morgan Park | November 05, 2012 at 11:14 AM
Theres no excuse for Lemont. They just got outplayed. What can you say. But to Brooks would destroy MP is a bit of a stretch. I think it would be a good game and I cant predict the score nor who would win.
Posted by: . | November 05, 2012 at 11:54 AM
First of all I believe the two seen eachother over the summer and MP was scoring all over them and the only time brooks scores was when they had red zone drills. other thAn that no ball movement. 2nd point Lemont game was about one thing not wanting to be there. Kids didn't want a state title, they want a city and prep bowl ring. Brooks has the easiest road to the state championship out of all the schools that ever played for state. Payton then Austin, are you serious. Third once MP beats already and you lose to evergreen we will see that ass. I heard y'all wanna come back after this lose and Mickey is going to let Y'ALL. your coaches are already predicting a lose. MP vs Brooks is the only game left to be pplayed...
Posted by: @ Brooks would destroy mp | November 05, 2012 at 02:05 PM
No one counts a 7 on 7 that's during summer time and not everyone shows up. Simeon would kill Mt carmel in 7 on 7 but not in a real game. Not wanting to play in a state playoff game that is sad I feel sorry for the Coaches. As for Brooks playing you all won't be back for the toliet bowl.
