Lane Tech players cheer in celebration the moment they found out they won the title.
The team title came down to the meet's final event the 4x400. Lane's 2nd place finish (to Payton) gave them just enough points to hold back Dunbar to win the boys frosh-soph title.
Dunbar was led by a Herculean effort from freshman Demoria Harris(fr)- shown here congratulating Lane Tech players after the race. Harris- the brother of Dunbar varsity stars Trayvon and Darvell won the 100 (11.1) and 200 to help Dunbar with the 2nd place trophy.
Here were some highlights for Lane:
- 4x2- The 4x2 team nipped Dunbar in the 4x200. Both had official times of 1:39.7, but Lane came out just barely ahead. Switch that result and Dunbar takes the title.
- 800- Pavlo Hutsalyuk(fr) and Adalberto Aviles(so) finished 1-2. Hutsalyuk ran a PR of 2:05.6. Aviles held off a hard charging Luis Gomez(so) of Lake View to take 2nd 2:06.9 to 2:07.1.
- 110HH- Alex Pincsak(fr) ran the race of his life in the 110 high hurdles to come up with the upset. He had to run a PR of 16.2 to win the title.
More coming soon...
