Offensive line prospect Kijana Evans(jr) of Harlan committed to Western Michigan University. The 6-4, 290lb junior also had offers from Eastern Michigan,Western Kentucky Toledo, Illinois St, and a late offer from Indiana University.
"I really like the coaches and I feel at home," said Evans on why he picked Western Michigan.
I see him being a decommitting when he gets the right offer. But Congrats

WTF You Mean Right Offer!! How Is any Offer Wrong. It's a D-1 offer He just picked Up Ball State Offer Yesterday so is that the right offerlol People sayanythingto ruin a person's HappinessI hope Kijana Never Reads That Comment.

There has been a stupid trend with athletes from committing to one school, decommitting, then accepting another offer. In my mind not usually smart to do so.
Posted by: @^ | May 12, 2012 at 07:46 AM
what about the kid Claude Owens that plays alongside him at guard has he gotten any offers. He's a sleeper in the cps. I seen him and Kijana Evans literally demolish kids.

HAHAHA Guess what? I called it! Ki-jana Evans reopened his recruitment.
Posted by: cps fan | June 23, 2012 at 11:20 PM
@cpsfan, I didn't see for myself but have been told by several pretty good sources and 1 or 2 guys on this board that he has not shown well at camps. Everybody says his measurables are damn good but his attitude is way too arrogant for his showing in live drills at camps. Even a college coach told me about him trying to show up a kid before a drill at the gatley niu camp only to see him get his ass kicked, turn around throw off his helmet and pout. I’m NOT saying this happened as I wasn’t there but this is what I’ve been told. Word is his film pretty much only shows him destroying bad comp.
If you read this young Evans, be humble young man, don't pout like a baby, call all coaches at all camps sir, take to their added coaching and then let your play do the talking for you. Do that and from what I hear you will be fine college wise and a better ball player to boot. Good luck to you, all cps supporters are rooting for you.

PLS, I watched him get worked over by a speedy DE from MP at the NFL camp at Gately. The kid beat him several times to Evans one. He was very arrogant after beating others but humbled by this kid. He listened to the coaches after each time hey tried to help. I think he will be ok. He has too much Talent.

One of my sources told me he didnt eat anything before the camp and during 1 on 1's he got hit in the stomach and was light headed. He came back during pass rush and lost 1 time and beat every person he faced even the kid who beat him at first and i really dont know what you mean by he dosent show well @ camps Illinois Camp #1 OL Prospect There. Invited To u100. Invited to Top Gun In Virginia After a great Showing At Football University. Team First Camp MVP!!!!! Southern llinois camp #1 OL THERE SO maybe You Should Do A tad Bit More Research On the Kid.
@Spectator
This has to be a kid he beat or something i was there monday when they had no pads and he demolished every kid there in pass rush wesenday when they had pads omg it was ridiculous how he did every kid there loss Evans may have loss twice outta like 20 times but who dosent lose. Been to jordan Diamond games he lost a few battles all i gotta say is stop hatin on the kid and let him do him OK!!!!!

what is his ACT score? Coming from Harlan I'd guess its about the 12-13 range which means his d1 offers are meaningless.
Posted by: ACT score? | June 24, 2012 at 08:47 PM
funny how all the talk stopped when I asked about his ACT score.
Posted by: ACT score? | June 24, 2012 at 10:24 PM
I'm leaving this blog for the reason of we are not lifting our kids up and motivating them. We bash them.and hate on them yet we wonder why we as youth don't get to see the bigger pic. We are like crabs in a barrel. Pulling each other down. I wonder if the suburbs do this on their blogs.
Posted by: ijs | June 25, 2012 at 12:03 AM
suburbs don't have "blogs" to talk about high school sports no one cares about.
Posted by: shoowtime | June 25, 2012 at 02:09 AM
Guys, relax. I’m not hating on the kid & I sure as hell never said he sucked or was bad. You guys sound like a bunch of little girls just because I said something that wasn't flatering to him. Reread my post, I even said he should be fine collegewise. I’m just stating what I’ve been told. Damn, stop being so soft/mentally weak. None of us are perfect and we sure as hell weren’t at his age. You have to be able to deal with criticism, at least when it’s delivered in a respectful way. I want him to do well that’s why I gave a little advice that if what I heard was true or not it still can help. As for the 1 or 2 things I heard on here, I don’t put much stock in. I only mentioned it because it echoed what a few coaches told me.
Now, one thing you have to realize is being ranked due to measurable is one thing and showing good technique and even more importantly these days character is another. If a kid gets an awesome 40 or shuttle time and looks great vs. bags and in linemen cases has good size, he will be ranked. If the same kid then goes to camps beats bums but gets beat half the time when his comp is good and being recrutied as well, it’s called not a good showing. But, keep in mind if its tech issues, colleges feel they can fix that so good measurable do mean a ton.
The one thing I heard that I honestly wonder why the guy would lie was told to me by a college coach at the niu gatley camp. You guys say it didn’t happen but here it is and tell me if it’s true or not. In 1on1s his turn came, he showed low character by making a scene saying clear the way then the suburban kid beat his ass, the coach says go again and he got his ass kicked again, and then again like 2 more times. A little later he went against a big dark kid from the burbs with a white helmet and after getting his ass kicked several more times by that kid he snatched off his helmet dropped it to the ground and pouted. Maybe coach saw it wrong or it looked different to him than it was but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t lying to us just because.

what was his act score? was he a qualifier? if his recruitment opened up after already accepting a d1 offer then it could be because he didn't qualify. i hear about how great he is on the field and his character but not one peep about him being even academically eligible for d1. If he was academically eligible I would assume this major fact would have been mentioned somewhere along the way.
Posted by: ACT score? | June 25, 2012 at 07:58 AM
@????
reread my post... I told him TO call them sir and said I heard it from sources AND 1 or 2 people on this board so your reply made close to no sense.
Posted by: Public League Supporter | June 25, 2012 at 09:19 AM
what's the point in arguing about how good someone in relation to d1 schools if they don't have a qualifying act score. i still haven't heard anyone say he is even d1 eligible in respect to academics so I'm assuming he isn't.
Posted by: ACT score? | June 25, 2012 at 09:53 AM
I Would Think The colleges would Know his Act Score Before they offer I would Think grown ass men would have sense enough to know that!
Posted by: Damn You guys really hate him that much????? | June 25, 2012 at 07:49 PM
wrong. scholarships are offered contingent on that they'll be academically eligible upon graduation from senior year, which includes having the minimum act score and appropriate credits. In other words, they must pass the NCAA clearinghouse. some colleges even offer scholarships to kids who aren't in high school yet and won't take the act for another 3 years.
so no, most college scholarships are offered before an athlete clears the ncaa clearinghouse, but it is understood that in order for the scholarship to be accepted that the student be academically eligible.
all juniors should now know what their act score is as most took it last april. kijana knows what his act score is and so do his coaches. if kijana had indeed obtained the minimum act score I'm sure that would have been mentioned along with his great performances and great character people are trying to hype.
Posted by: ACT score? | June 25, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Congrats Big Homey!!!! Don't listen to this garbage. Everyone gets beat by someone. Your job is to get beat as few times as possible. Work on your technique as much as you can and you will get better. You are a natural. Don't let sweat this criticism. You will continue to get it as long as you are succeeding.

How did a post about a young man potentially earning a college degree and play football at a high level turn into an opportunity to berate him with insults?
Congrats Mr. Evans and good luck.
