Lane Tech and Ian Rundquist(jr- Heavyweight) face a stiff challenge at the Mount Carmel Class 3A wrestling regional. Awaiting them are Catholic League powers Mount Carmel and St. Rita who finished 1-2 in the Catholic League wrestling tournament.
This is not your ordinary regional. The Mount Carmel class 3A regional pits Public League champion Lane Tech vs Catholic League champion and runner up Mt. Carmel and St. Rita.
This will be truly be a test for all three teams.
Lane Tech is coming off a dominating performance at the CPS tournament in which they had 3 first place finishes and 7 2nd place finishes.
Mount Carmel and St.Rita are coming off an equally impressive showing at the very competitive Catholic League tournament in which Mt. Carmel won the 13 team tournament 182-177.
Depending on the final weight classes the big individual battle of the day could come at 145lbs where you could see #1 state ranked and undefeated Max Schneider(sr) of Lane Tech vs. #2 state ranked Bryce Brill(so) of Mount Carmel. Both are undefeated in the state of Illinoi. Brill's only loss came vs an opponent from Minnesota.

This is Lane's best wrestling team in over a decade- against Catholic League's best.

Only one team of these 3 powerhouses will advance to the dual team sectional. Last year Mt Carmel won their regional and Lane won a regional to advance to sectional.
To even begin talking state you gotta first get past regionals. This is Lane's biggest test. No excuses for any team.
