The official indoor high school season opens tomorrow. However, some CPS runners have already run some meets at the club track level. Here are some noticeable times that a reader wanted to point out:

Good times for early season I guess

Meltos PR indoor is 50.4 last year. Looks like he is gonna be under some serious pressure from these times. I hope these kids don't burn out before outdoor...

If theses athletes have good coaches that know how to train them they will not burn out

Melto ran a 52.66 last Friday at Northside's time trial, so I think he's safe from burning out early. I fully expect to see some great things from him in the postseason. As for the others, we can only hope they don't.

Didn't Melto also run XC this season. Hmmm...sounds like a really long season for him from XC to last wkend in May. Unless his coach has some magic up his sleeve, I'll be surprised if he doesn't peak before seasons end.

A true track coach will know how to keep him and the rest of these guys from "peaking" to soon

some of this kids been running since the summer or from last season and never stoped running. might be a long season and too many work outs for some of these kids. they have a good chances that their times dont improve from now cause of so much little breaks from running. just hope they have grat coaches and they know what they doing or they peaking to arly and when the time for city comes wont see them no more

@hmmm
I'm sure melto didn't kill himself during cross country based on his times, and there's plenty of break between that and track season. Assuming he's just started training again, his time trial 52.66 is exactly where he should be if he wants to peak at state.

Considering the fact that over 95% of the CPS coaches don't have a clue in how to train high school kids because they only coach to get a little check these kids are going to be in for a long season. When CPS track coaches learn how to train kids the right way then you will see CPS catch up to other people and our kid won't burn out
