Northside lost because #4 runner freshman Simon Kafka got sick during race and had to drop out.

NCP had it, Mather and even Niles West had bad days. NCP had worse. They are done.

    *cough* peak *cough*

oh wow mather could have gotten 3rd or 4th. Congrats to the top 5 teams

If simon finishes that race, we get in as a team for sure. Mather ran well even without tarik, don't know whats up with him but I hope he can run next week. Great race and sectionals will be gtms fsho

Tarik is not running he is injured

this was the course manager's note for the Chicago(UHigh) regional...That's pathetic.

Temperature 57 degrees with rain and winds gusting to 30 mph at times during the race. EVERY RUNNER in the race qualified to the Sectional Meet next week. Several CPS Schools did not show up at the meet while Robeson, Bowen, Harlan, Hope, King and Tilden entered the IHSA SERIES, were assigned to this regional and did not enter athletes thus did not participate. Thus there were 29 runners in an IHSA Regional Meet allowing everyone to advance.

Jones should have been in this regional but they were moved to lakeview. Thats unjust that northside can't make it but all of these lesser runners can.

simon kafka did not deserve to run varsity this season

jones is 2a...wtf u taklin bout

the u-high regional is 2A aka kenwood is in it. Jones was in it last year bc they are both 2A

i just posted that note from the course manager of that regional because it was rather disappointing. Same thing could be said about several 2A abd 3A regionals that have CPS schools in them, just thought it was interesting that a meet manager should note that those schools say they will field teams, but don't end up doing that.

It seems to me that the regionals should be decided later in the season, perhaps have a selection process as with football, that way the regionals, and subsequenty sectionals allow the best teams to advance, rather than having 7/8 competitive teams in one regional and 3 in antoher, we would have 5/6 in each, and those would be the ones to make it...and no weak team would be allowed to walk in.

Jeez Northside are you guys always going to have an excuse for everything? If Simon finished Northside would be in for sure...really? Since you throw the ifs around lets do the same for the Mather boys...if Haji ran like he has been running all year, if Juan Mendez didnt have a soccer game the day before, and if Tarik wasnt injured Mather would have crushed Northside even with a a Simon that wasn't sick. I personally like both Mather and Northside but jeez ever since your guys first varsity title you guys havent stop complaining. Enough with the excuses and just step up and race.

not putting down your opinion, but thats not really an excuse, its a cause for the effect. a top five runner not finishing leads to a poor team performance. an excuse would be more like "northside has one of the lowest enrollments of the schools which raced, so its that much harder to beat the other schools." in northsides defense, i have never heard anyone on this blog say that.

northsides varsity runners are not the ones making up excuses. we know where we were this season, we knew what we had to do. everyone talking smack from all the teams are just a bunch of jv runners who can't do anything themselves so they try to start crap between the varsity teams who genuinely respect each other

    very well said

northside has one of the lowest enrollments of the schools which raced, so its that much harder to beat the other schools. take that into consideration

I agree the varsity teams do respect each other even though they are rivals who ever talks smakc doesnt know whats up

that's northside's problem, if they want good xc runners they can recruit them
