Gregory's 528 individual total offensive yards beats Dunbar great Steve Holden's record
Robert Gregory (sr, 6-3, 190lbs), quarterback for #1 Simeon had 528 yards of total offense (282 yards passing, 246 yards rushing) in his first game, a 47-41 win over Mt. Carmel. That is an all-time CPS best for total yardage and 6th best in IHSA history. The previous CPS high was by Dunbar great Steve Holden who had 426 yards total offense (182 pass, 125 recpt., 57 rush) in a 2001 win over Kenwood. For those of you who are not familiar with Holden. Holden led the state in rushing in 2001 with 2,680 yards and 43 touchdowns. I'm not sure how many games Dunbar played that year, but if in a 10 game season, that is an astonishing 4.3 touchdowns per game.
Gregory came close to the all-time IHSA record of 577 yards of total offense set by Jason Stanicek of Rich East in 1990.
And Gregory's performance was against mighty Mt.Carmel, not against a cream puff.
For those of you who haven't seen Gregory play, you are missing a show. He is already being talked about as one of the top 5 football prospects in the state for the junior class. If he keeps playing games like he did against, Mt. Carmel, there is no limit as to far he can go. Largely because of Gregory and his very talented Simeon teammates (Banks, Diamond, etc) there is even talk of a state title run for Simeon. Simeon is currently ranked #4 in the state.
Robert Gregory and #1 (city) Simeon play #2 Morgan Park this Saturday at Gately, in a game where some people are calling the top CPS football game in the last 25 years.
Plus, Gregory is still only a junior many more years to go.
I think Carter can break Gregory's record. Carter can do a 300 + yeard running game plus a 100+ yard reception game. Carter's a back that can catch and run.

His record is 528 yds, not happening , he would have to have a qb for that

Providence and Mt. Carmel are not very good this year, Providence is losing to Loyola 21-0 right now

Why in the hell does Brian Carter's name keep coming up on this site? We are talking about real football playerson here. Ones that play against quality teams. Gregory accomplished his feat against Mt. Carmel. I repeat Mt. Carmel. Not Dyett. If Carter ran for 300 caught 100 he would still be 128 yards short.
