Steve Taylor (jr) of Simeon - Taylor is best known for being a 6'7" power forward basketball star for the defending state champions Simeon Wolverines. He already has offers from Northwestern and Southern Illinois and made an unofficial visit to the University if Illinois yesterday. He is one of the top basketball prospects for the class of 2012. What sets Taylor apart is that he is one of the few Simeon star basketball players that plays both football and basketball. On the football field - the 6'7" Taylor is one of the top kickers in the Public League. He has a leg strong enough to kick it into the end zone on kickoffs- a rarity in high school football. Taylor also gives the Wolverines a field goal threat. As a freshman he hit a 25 yarder to beat Morgan Park with 14 seconds left in the game.
Francisco Rodriguez (sr) of Hubbard. Hubbard is another a CPS school that tries to be good in all phases of the game. Last year, they had all-city kicker Carlos Gonzalez. This year, it looks like Francisco Rodriguez, a small player at only 125lbs, is the main kicker.
Dominic Kozlowski (sr- 6'0, 217lbs) - At 6 feet 217lbs, Kozlowski is big enough to play linebacker. At Curie Kozlowski is next in line to carry on the great kicking tradition at Curie. If Robeson is the relay school, Simeon the offense school, then Curie is the kicking school as they have had several all-city kickers in the past.

Dont know where Steve Taylor has been but the kicking duties have been turned over to Robert Gregory. During the Morgan Park game he was constantly putting the ball in the parking lot.

Taylor is good but Gregory is incredible. They been trying out Gregory doing field goals as well. They used Taylor for almost all the kicking duties in the Morgan Park game. Taylor kicked it in the end zone once and the others did not make it, but were still deep.

I know the focus is still football but official first day of basketball practice is today. Simeon is defending class 4A state champs. Can you imagine the sports rep of the school if they do something big in football.
