From 1976 until 1997 Bogan teams was a solid CPS football program, winning city twice and qualifying for the state playoffs 13 times during that span. However the decade of the 2000's Bogan fell in a bit of a decline (compared to years past). For example, in 2002 Bogan lost to Harper 62-0. That's right Harper. Then in 2005 Sam Jones, a former sophomore coach at Morgan Park took over as head coach. He took his lumps his first few years, but what he added was a sense of discipline to the program. For example a team dress code was enforced which included no baggy pants or ear rings.
Jones has brought up the Bogan program to the point where they won the Chicago Windy City Conference last year with an undefeated conference record and thus has been promoted to the Illini Red-Bird - home of Lane Tech, Curie, and defending city champ Simeon.

Last Year
Bogan had one of the biggest upsets last year when it beat Tinley Park 22-15. Then rolled through the rest of the games undefeated before finally falling to Marian Catholic in the state playoffs. Despite their gaudy 2009 record, some still doubt Bogan because only two of their wins came against above .500 opponents (Julian and Corliss).

Fall 2010 Outlook
Bogan will have to replace some playmakers from last year including Kareem Adewole (now at Nazarene Olivet), Emmanuel Bibbs (now at Iowa), lineman Ashley Odei, and speedy cornerback Kevon Cole. That is a lot of talent to replace. They do have receiver Vance St. George and good sized linebacker Cortez Reese returning.
Their 2010 schedule will be much tougher than last year. There are no more gimmes on the schedule. That means no more teams like DuSable and Gage Park. Instead their schedule will be loaded from week 1 until the end. In non-conference play, they open with Tinley Park, followed by a rare game at downstate Edwardsville then a trip to the north side to meet the always tough Lane Tech Indians. Then they begin play in the rugged Illini Prairie State conference - the Hubbard and Morgan Park Conference.
Finishing .500 will be a major accomplishment for Bogan. I feel that their biggest game of the season may be the first conference game against Mather. Mather, like Bogan is new this year in an Illini-Conference. None of those teams want to start out conference play with a loss - especially with big games against Morgan Park and Hubbard still coming up.

Just a correction cornerback Kevin Cole will be returning for his senior season this year, he was only a junior last year. Bogan also has junior quarterback Terrance Wafford who made your underclassmen all area team.

Emmanuel Bibbs highlight film. Bibbs was not listed on the spring roster at Iowa. This means he is probably red-shirting his first year.

You missed the boat with this team i saw them this summer a couple times they are loaded with three plamaker type receivers , the qb has a cannon and stands 6'03. they have a running back transfer from st rita that is the truth . look out for this team they are young but explosive.

Your are correct they have three receivers over 6'02 and catch the ball well that Qb is a monster we saw them a week ago and the highlights were pretty good that little r/b is smoothe and elusive.

We are gonna make a crazy comeback this year with all area QB Terrence "T-Mac" Wafford coming back and with two recievers coming back for their seinor year and not one but two fast and elusive RBs also coming back. and we have a lot of sophmore talent moving up to the varsity level including recievers, linemen, and linebackers. So watch out for us "GO BENGALS"
