Andrew Zotti (jr) is the closest thing to a number one runner for Lincoln Park. Zotti ran a 17:24 at regionals last year.
Lincoln Park has always produced good cross country teams. In 2007 they placed 4th in the varsity level at city and 5th in 2008. But last year, the Lions experienced a big drop off failing to field a full team of 5 in any level at the city meet and thus not placing at city.
Much of it had to do with their long time coach Troy Holley deciding not to coach cross country for the fall 2009 season.
Apparently the new coach had problems even fielding a team as numbers declined dramatically. It got so bad that at regionals Lincoln Park was only able to field 3 runners.
"We were only able to run three runners in a fairly easy regional that getting 5 runners under 20 minutes would have been good enough to qualify for sectionals," said Holley (who did coach track).
"I should be back to coach cross country," said Holley.
If Holley does return, he will have to do a serious rebuilding job. No Lincoln Park individual placed at city in any individual event above the 400 at the varsity track championship and scored only 1 point at the freshman city track championship.
