I did it for the girls, I may as well do it for the boys. Here is a new CPSfan.com male athlete of the year poll. One vote per IP address.
Just so people don't make me appear biased. I have changed it so that the winner of the male and female athlete of the year will be based on the winner of these polls. So I am letting you, the CPS fan decide.
Warning pick carefully. Only one vote per IP address:
Update....
This is the final version of the poll, I screwed up in the settings of the previous poll. (I don't deserve a solid B+ grade.) This poll has been tested and verified to count only one voter per IP address.
Cuit and Marshall,
change your FaceBook event page link to this page. This is the real poll, the other poll is invalid due to too many multiple voting.

Brandon Pressley of Harlan - all state in 110 high hurdles, 4x100, 4x200, star football player.
No one comes close to Brandon.

CLASS 2A my friend, like Mark T said earlier if we had only one class... you wouldn't be posting on cpsfan.com...
Posted by: weak class | December 15, 2009 at 10:47 PM
Pressley from Harlan was all state in 3 events. More than Chris Kyles. Lavinia, or Monica.
Pressley more than any one else deserves POY.
Posted by: Pressley #1 | December 15, 2009 at 10:48 PM
we all know Pressley is the king in a weak azz class. do u get it? want me to draw it for u?

Posted by: you are the king | December 16, 2009 at 12:07 AM
Guys,
I deleted the old poll that was up from 10:30pm until 12:30 am (12/16/09).
I think I finally got this new poll right. This new poll (called version 3), does not allow multiple votes from one computer. I tested it.
Posted by: publisher | December 16, 2009 at 12:53 AM
it is still broken, i just added 2 votes for "Other"
Posted by: Ip doesn't mean Iraqi police | December 16, 2009 at 01:05 AM
It's not broken. I tried voting twice for the same candidate on my computer. It did not allow me to vote a second time. You're computer must have the ability to pass the screening.
Posted by: it works | December 16, 2009 at 09:04 AM
nope it is still broken

Tashaun Johnson of Harlan exploded at the end of last season when he leaped a season best 21-9 at sectionals. He couldn't repeat that at state. But if he had that would have been good enough for an all-state finish. If Johnson keeps working on his long jump he has a legitamate chance at an all-state long jump finish for class 2A Harlan.and he is the QB for harlan i think they are goin to go really far with him on the team he is super fast and he is smart he is the total package i hope he go to and divion 1 school so i can watch him on tv

Why Brandan Presley? In Track and Field Presley was the only sophomore last year in the entire state to gain All-state status in 3 events. He was also the only CPS athlete to gain All-state status in 3 events. Presley won sectionals in 3 events last year and just missed qualifying in the Discus throw by a few inches. He also led Harlan in 4 events last season to the school's first CPS Frosh/Soph Outdoor title in 37 years, including the 4x800, 4x400, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. He is the first athlete in CPS championship history to run a leg on a 4x800 and then win the 110 hurdles. Presley also caught 13 touchdown passes, had 722 yards receiving, and had 7 interceptions in leading Harlan to its second consecutive playoff appearance and its first CPS playoff win in school history.

Tashaun Johnson(TJ) from Harlan rushed for over 1300 yards this year and passed for over 1300 yards in a single season he was a junior and his sophomore he passed over 1000 yards and had 22 touchdowns he was one of the top long jumpers in the state he came from 17 foot long jump to an 21-9 long jump that made him go to state he is looking for a better year this year......look out for the junior Tashaun Johnson(TJ)

Is this male athete of the school year or male athlete of 2009? If its the school year, shouldn't the voting be done at the end of the last sport of the school year? Also, if thats the case what a person did last school year shouldn't count for this year. And if its the male athlete of 2009, Chris Kyles was given that award earlier this year.
Posted by: confused on how this is working | December 16, 2009 at 08:36 PM
Male athlete of the year 2009. But must have played in the spring and fall. So no, class of 2009 candidates.

these polls mean nothing. this was a dumb idea in the first place, it's just turning into an argument and who can spend the most time at their computer clicking for a guy...let's start looking at the track season. forget this crap now it's pretty annoying. obviously presley is going to win apparently...
Posted by: dumb..? | December 16, 2009 at 09:05 PM
I agree, the polls were done by good intentions. You can't blame the Publisher for putting it up. The problem was that people rigged the polls to vote for their candidate multiple times. The multi-voters ruined the initial intent of the polls. Can anyone recommend a better web poll to use?

qualifying for state in AAA means something
Posted by: AAA | December 16, 2009 at 09:48 PM
harlan only has 1200 students. lane has over 4000. lane should beat harlan in everything every year. and no way should lane be comparing themselves with harlan as a measure of success. lane tech is a magnet school which draws the cream of the crop while the leftovers remain at harlan. lane tech should only be comparing itself with the new triers, hinsdales, yorks, napervilles, etc. because that is the level they should be competing at year in and year out in every sport. anything else is a mere reflection of weak coaches.
harlan did not race to peak at sectionals. it raced to peak at state. it also knew it could waltz through their sectionals so their focus was not false starting or dropping the baton, not posting fast times. had they been in the lane tech sectional or hillcrest the team would have approached the meet much more seriously. that's what you don't understand about top coaches. they don't pump their athletes up for nothing.
Posted by: ha ha | December 16, 2009 at 10:28 PM
and someone else stated it earlier - brandon pressley is the only candidate on the list who earned all-state recognition 3 times last year and did so as only a sophomore. how many people do you know in track who can run every event from the hurdles to the 800 and also place 3rd in the discus at sectionals? how many city teams came close to running 3:22 for the 4x400?
Posted by: pressley = only 3-time all-stater | December 16, 2009 at 10:54 PM
i know one who could run the 200 to the 3200 and you know him.
Posted by: guess who | December 16, 2009 at 11:00 PM
wat he throw in discus?
Posted by: discus | December 16, 2009 at 11:05 PM
pressley threw over 114 at sectionals but he ain't throw at state. he threw over 130 in practice. he threw over 160 feet this past summer but he doing the hurdles and 2 relays and maybe the triple jump.
Posted by: pressley = only 3-time all-stater | December 16, 2009 at 11:10 PM
there are only 3 guys who throw discuz on the southside
Posted by: nope | December 16, 2009 at 11:11 PM
theres a couple morgan park guys and some simeon guys i think
Posted by: discus | December 16, 2009 at 11:17 PM
I think we need to have a vote for coach of the year. Definitely goes to Andrew Adelmann who brought Jones boys and girls to their first Cross Country appearance. As well as the first CPS boys team to make an appearance at the xc state meet since the end of the auto qualifier. Either way, the guy deserves a handful of respect for what he did this year.
