If
there are any more questions let me know, I have any and all things
that you need. I worked as the Student Intern this summer so I have
info for you.
New Info On Track that Potentially would strike interest:
- Pre-Season rankings
-
USATF Meets this Summer (Several CPS students including myself competed
in the USATF Junior Olympic Nationals) I have those names and results
if needed.
- Hayden Classic Next month will be the first meet
of the season that Illinois Athletes get to get on the track. This has
a lot of controversy because this is the meet where athletes put
together all-star teams!
- Individual rankings (e.g, Hurdlers, 100m, 200m, etc...)
This is Just a few before the season starts.
Are the three Urban Prep campuses going to merge for athletics, that would increase their team strength in my opinion? I agree with everything Durley suggested to add to the track section. THe CPS was visible this summer on the USATF circuit (Jolly, Gardner, Urban Prep athletes, Rhone, MP girls team, CCL athletes, as well as several state champions) There will be more next summer due to USATF nationals in Illinois.

No, Urban Prep will not merge. We will be three separate teams. We will be like the Hinsdale so to speak.

Israel,
Who do UP have coming back next year that will have an impact? If I had to guess you all are built to compete @ state rather than city, correct?
Posted by: Jay | November 19, 2009 at 02:52 PM
Correct. We have all of our top guys from last year with some new additions. I think if staying healthy isn't a factor our all of our relay, sprints and jumps will rank in the city and state.

wat class is urban prep 4 track. who go againts ya'll in sectonal that could beat ya'll in da sprint/jump/relay

Urban Prep Track is in class 3A. We are in the Lyons Township Sectional. One of the most competitive sectionals in the 3A class.
Posted by: Israel Durley | November 20, 2009 at 12:44 PM
Urban Prep compete as a 3A team. We are in the Lyons Township sectionals. One that I feel is one of the most competitive sectionals in the 3A class. We are don't go after place to make it to state due to our competitive sectional. However we chase the clock and work harder at meeting the qualifying time for state. this year we had 3 or 4 guys in our sectional qualify for state in the 100m dash alone. this includes Hubbard's Richard Wooten.

Wats the deal with competing in so many meets before the season because there is a 2-3 week wait before schools can compete. i can see doing 1. Flossmoor was hardest sectional, Lyons was weak by looking @ the results. Morgan Park and Jolly did well (TJ/LJ champ). I see Boldian from UP and it looks like St. Rita got people coming back next year to suprise people, based on state results. Look out for MP and UP for the CPS in that sectional next year i guess. UP is looking for a coach too, who left? Thanks for answering questions Durley

Who wouldyou say is YOUR biggest competition is this year.
Posted by: Mr.Q | November 28, 2009 at 12:02 AM
Probably Northside...there depth in sprints will take them down state for sure
Posted by: im not really desperate i just think you fine also Mr. A | November 28, 2009 at 06:35 PM
Northside + Sprints = Fantasy What sprinters does Northside have. Eric Nelson was the most athletic person on the team and now he gone.
Posted by: Mr.Q | November 28, 2009 at 09:41 PM
Northside's Mac Melto beat our entire Team in the 200m dash last year. It cost us and Mather the meet.
Posted by: Isreal Durley | November 28, 2009 at 10:03 PM
well for starters we had last years freshmen mac melto who threw down a 52 in the 400m mid 23s in the 200 and a 11.4 for the 100m. we also have an incoming freshmen nathaniel. im warning you right now. hes gonna be on fire by track. that guy does just as much winter training than the distance squad. im calling it right now and you guys can quote me on this. hes gonna go under 52 for the 400 and be in the low 23s and low 11s. with someone scoring in the 400 and someone scoring in the 200 and 100 thats gonna hopefully be a good start to the program

looks like Harlan coach removed his post from facebook.
Posted by: deletes | December 01, 2009 at 11:18 AM
due to a pending IHSA investigation?
Posted by: we know | December 01, 2009 at 11:24 AM
there is no pending ihsa investigation of harlan nor will there ever be one. the falcons track club is a legitimate usatf competitive club and the winter program information is posted on their website just as it was for the competitive summer program: www.harlantrack.com.

what's the name of the Urban Prep track coach?
Posted by: UP coach | December 01, 2009 at 09:38 PM
Durley, heard you ran XC for Urban Prep. How did you do at Lyons sectionals this year?
Posted by: question for durley | December 01, 2009 at 09:44 PM
I bested at 18:58 in the 3mi, however, I just did XC to get in shape and stay in shape. Lyons had a mud patch so I ran a season worst.
