why were the times so slow?

Mather got ass whacked today. Haji running hurt finishing in 19:30 something. Northside had 4 guys ahead of their #1. Normal #2 man Bana Negash runs a 17:10; star freshman Victor Maldonado runs an 18:10. Even if you you subtract 45 seconds due to the wet course. Bana still ran a 16:25 and Maldonado ran a 17:35. That won't cut it. Heck, Whitney Young would have a chance to beat Mather today.

It is clear that Lane Tech's program can't get Haji to the next level. Last year Haji was behind Loyola top 3 by +29 (Composto), Donohue (+10), and Seeberg (+4), now he's behind by over 50 seconds on each of them. It just shows you how much better Loyola's training program is and they really aren't even that good.

To Jim Bucham:
You are in the NO as in don't know. You have not done your homework because if you did, you have noticed that Loyola is #1 in the state and have the best trio by far. Now, as for K. Haji he is fine despite having a bad race at Peoria, he bounced back nicely at Loyola. Keep in mind that while the times are not quite there but he has already ran his personal best. There hasn't been that much emphasis on the regular season so far because the A team has only ran two races! They potentially have a four week run of races in a row. Look at some of the other teams racing every week and now are starting to fall back. York is going to beat Loyola by the way for the state championship (nationals too).
Lane has prepared K. Haji well so far. He is a miler that went 4:44 as a frosh to 4:24 last year. He has one more track season left. Now, tell me he's not a shoe in for sub 4:20 and possibly 4:15. Now, that's progression and preparing.

Nice 3rd place finish by Jones Frosh/Soph in their division. Tied for 5th overall. No Jamison Dale though? DId they run their varsity in the fresh/soph?

Haha, thats hilarious. Loyola isn't that good. I guess being ranked top 25 in the nation isn't good anymore.

Jim Bucham made some good points. He's not comparing Haji to Loyola, but to how much Haji has improved compared to Loyola's top guys. The other guy made an good point about how Haji has improved in track, but I want to see how much he improves in cross country. Nothing short of a city championship will do. He also must qualify for state. Last year he was 21st at sectionals with a time of 15:25. He has to do at least that or else, Jim will have a serious point.

Well K. Haji has run in the 15:20s twice. Comparing him to anyone else is pointless. He should be there when it counts. Lots of running left still. It's not how you start but more how you finish.
