You're overlooking Walter Payton's Girls (and boys) Cross Country teams. I see their girls finishing second, and disrupting Young's attempt at a perfect score. The boys should be considered for the top 3 as well. Jose is going to have a great senior year!

Girls Rankings will change dramatically after the first meet. As far as Payton's Boys, do they even have enough athletes to field a team this year?

Payton boys actually have many new members. They will probably have enough for a varsity and junior varsity this year

Hopefully Jose Mora will finish his senior cross country and track seasons more strongly than he has in the past; I know he is basically training solo but it always seems his performances at state could be better.

Jose really wants to focus on track this upcoming season. He does cross country to prepare for the track season. Hopefully he will close his high school career with an all state finish.

im friends with paytons projected 2 or 3 runner and no offense to all you payton fans but the kid has no work ethic and didnt even train this summer. payton is not cracking the top 3. not this year and not for a long time

I'm not really sure what Mora did last summer, but I do know that the last two years he has worked hs butt off during the off season. I've heard numerous parents and kids from Whitney Young and other schools tell me that they see Payton running around even in the coldes days of the winter. Again, not sure what he did the summer. my hope is that he trained hard because Mora can run low 15's if he really trained hard and smart.
Can someone tell me why Payton does not step up it's boy cross country program? Payton did not field enough runners to make a varsity or frosh-soph boys team. Even the girls could use more runners. They have a few good runners, but after this group graduates, Payton will not have anyone to replace them.

payton has many students that focus on academics. some do sports as other activities while some like mora are great athletes who can compete against the best in the city.
