With tongue out, Chris Kyles wins the 100 meter dash. The 100 meter dash featured an incredible 4 runners breaking the 11 second barrier. Chris Kyles (sr) of Lane Tech ran a state best 10.73. Kyles is definitely a state championship contender if not favorite in the 100 meter dash. Steven Clark (sr) of Harlan ran a 10.93 to finish 2nd. His time is the top 3 in the state for class AA. Clark has stamped himself as a state championship contender in class AA for the 100 meter dash. Richard Wooten (sr) of Hubbard finished 3rd with a time of 10.99. Wooten's time is an improvement over his state prelims time of 11.04 last year. Wooten just missed making the finals last year by a few places. He has an opportunity to score for Hubbard this year in the 100. Morgan Park's Daron Brown ran a 10.98 in the prelims. It is not known yet wheter he will run the 100 meter dash or the 110 meter high hurldes at state. He has a chance to score in either event with some improvement.
Nigel Jolly (jr) of Morgan Park proudly displays the 2nd place shield for Morgan Park. Jolly is the defending state champion in the long jump. He won the long jump, placed 2nd in the high jump, and won the triple jump in a state best 47'0". Morgan Park has been an extremely consistent in boys track year in and year out.
Lane Tech seniors (above) end in style as Lane scores a whopping 166 points to take it's 4th city championship in a row.
Philip Pendelton (sr) of King wins his 400 meter heat in 53.74. Pendelton scored King's lone city point with an 8th place finish in the 400 meter run.
