Jose Mora of Payton (left) and Kulayfi Haji of Lane (right) look to challenge for the individual city cross country title this fall.
1.Northside Prep - Maroons return everyone from runner up team that was one point away from winning city last year.
2. Lane Tech - If the Indians stay healthy - they will be tough to beat.
3. Mather - It's tough to count out the two time defending city champs who return defending city champion Ivan Coronel
4. Whitney Young- If the Dolphins develop their young talent, they may surprise everyone and finish in the top 2 at city this year.
5. Lincoln Park- Number one runner Derek Schnake has graduated; it's now his brother Brandon Schnake (junior) to step up.
6. Lake View - 2007 State qualifiers Areki and Agafonov have graduated; The Wildcats hope to rebuild from members of it's 2007 city 5th place frosh-soph team. Lake View is probably the best class 2A cross country program in the city.
7. Payton- Unless the Grizzlies can do more recruiting, 2007 frosh-soph runner up Jose Mora, will run the show at Payton
8. Kenwood - The Broncos may have the best cross country program in the South Side.
9. Taft - The potential is there at this school; but they will need more numbers on their team.
10. Urban Prep - This small all-boys school made a splash at the frosh-soph level in track. A good goal for them would be to field a varsity cross country team.
Lakeview is a program on the rise in the Public League.
