Lane Tech 3rd baseman Daniella Torres signed with Miami of Ohio (a Division 1 School) to continue her softball career. Daniella has been a complete mainstay both offensively and defensively for Lane ever since her freshman year. She helped Lane capture city championships for 2 out of the last three years. The last two years she also helped the girls softball team to some very impressive showings. 2 years ago they played perennial power New Trier very tough before falling to the Trevians 1-0. Then last year, the girls showed tremendous heart by defeating favored Loyola Academy in the sectional semi-finals before coming two outs away from upsetting Resurrection in the sectional finals. The sectional final appearance was the furthest a Public League girls softball team went into the state softball playoffs.

Daniella Torres has provided leadership both on and off the field the last three years. Although she is listed as a 3rd baseman, she can also play other positions. Offensively, she hits with incredible power and has been the main source of power for Lane.

Torres is just the next of a long line of girls softball players that have played softball in college. Good luck to Daniella as she prepares for her final season of softball at Lane next spring.
