Recruiting is a numbers game. You will hear no much more often then you hear yes. The other day I was looking to fill a hard to fill position which had very specific requirements, so candidates were hard to come by. After searching, I identified what looked like a perfect candidate on paper. So I called her,but unfortunately she found a job already. The average recruiter just moves on to the next candidate without doing anything with this candidate. In this case,I decided to email her the job description anyways.This accomplishes two things. One,she could decide in a week that she will consider the opportunity and call me. Or she could forward on my email to someone she knows.
