I was interviewing a candidate who told me that she really wants to get good at computers and the Internet. So I asked her how she spends her time. She asked: what do you mean? I said: " well what do you do out side of your work hours. What do you do in the morning, while driving, and when at home?" She said that when she drives home she listens to music, then when she get's home from work she usually does things like house work or play Sim city ( a video game).
I then told her that if you really want to get good at the Internet, you'll have to have at least one of the 3 E's.
I think it was Robert Kiyosaki that came up with the 3 E's. The 3 E's are education, experience, and excessive cash. If you have enough of one of the 3 E's or preferably all of the 3 E's on a particular area that you really want to get good in, then chances are you'll make it.
Most people don't have the Excessive cash E, so I told her that she would need to spend most of her time working on getting Experience and Education. In other words, if she really wants to get good at the Internet ( or anything else) she will need to spend less time listening to music, doing house work, and playing video games and more times Educating herself and getting tons of Experience.
